The Glory Of It All

“Oh, the glory of it all, is He came here. For the rescue of us all, that we may live. For the glory of it all.”

“He is here with redemption from the fall, that we may live. For the glory of it all.” — (David Crowder Band, “The Glory Of It All”)

Everything is done for the purpose of glorifying God. We are part of that glorification. We play a magnificant role. If you don’t believe in God, this sounds like a load of crap. Or maybe it simply doesn’t make sense, but these lyrics have a lot to say.

For me, they are a direct result of scripture. Jesus did not come for our glory. Jesus did not come to rescue us (via death and resurrection) just for the sake of drawing us back to Himself. He did so for a TON of reasons, but an overall reason is for God’s glory to be known in the hearts of everyone who believes.

The fall mentioned above is the separation of humanity from God. Separation for pure oneness with God. We aren’t supposed to remain this way. It’s a collapse in unity with the Father. The way back to Him is through Jesus Christ. Accomplished through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

This is redemption for us all. So that we may truly live by having relationship again with the Father. In ALL of this God is glorified…in our repentence and our turning back to Him. That is the real point. Our lives lived for Christ, our lives poured out for His pleasure, this all makes God look amazing. Draws peoples attention back to how glorious God is, was and will always be.

This is a wonderful change in my understanding of God. That He does not exist to make my life peachy. He is not merely a God in the sky awaiting my every prayer to spring into action on my behalf. God Almighty allows me back into oneness with Him so that we can be part of making Him famous and exalting His name amoung the earth. That people would see He is real. He is Love. He is compassion. He is the Father and Creator. We live 100% for His purposes, not our own.

Honestly, this complete surrender is a daily struggle for me. But another line of lyrics to this song says it all.

“We will never be the same. We will never be the same. We will never be the same. For the glory of it all.”
