Paul’s Words Humble Me Deeply April 29, 2008

Acts 20:17-35

It’s a large chunk of scripture with serious depth and meat. These words from Paul to the edlers from Ephesus leave me overwhelmed. His life is not His own. It’s not like mine either. Paul shares a final word to these men He poured into “with tears”. They will never see their dear brother in Christ again.

I urge you to pull out a Bible (or click the link) and read this section. Read it in context too, which is completely important. Read it a few times. I could read this 50 times and still not get everything.

Seeing how Paul surrendered His life because of and for the Gospel of Jesus Christ puts my whole life in perspective. This guy sets a standard that likely still falls short of what it means “to live is Christ, to die is gain”. But it radically calls me out to determine how much I take seriously the call to “follow me”.

If you want, tell me how it makes you feel; how it impacts your heart and life.
